Civil War encampment at the Atwood House
The 9th Battery Massachusetts Volunteers held a replica encampment on the Atwood House
front lawn last weekend that included a surgeon’s tent and officer’s quarters. Visitors had
the opportunity to stroll through the tents asking questions, observing period artifacts,
and watching musket fire and cooking demonstrations as well as a walk through of
the proper steps to load, aim, and fire a cannon.
